Marriage Information
If you wish to get married in Copenhagen we advise that you read the following instructions carefully. If you have any questions, please phone - tlf. (45) 33662334, 3366 2335 or 3366 2336.
In order to get married in Copenhagen you need to go to Copenhagen City Hall at the Marriage Office. Here you must fill in a marriage form and present it along with following documents:
Foreign citizens have to present:
§ Valid passports.
§ Residence permits if you live abroad.
§ Schengen-visa if required or proof of entry and arrival to Denmark or Schengen.
Original divorce papers/certificates must be approved by Københavns Overpræsidium (see address below) before we can accept them at the Marriage Office.
Original death certificates must be approved by the Marriage Office.
Please contact the office well in advance for further information.
If one of the parties is under guardianship, documentation of the guardian's consent to the marriage must be presented.

If both parts have permanent address outside Denmark the fee for marriage is: 500,00 dkr. Credit cards or foreign currency is not accepted.
Persons who apply for asylum can not get married in Denmark.
Registered partnership (marriage between two persons of the same sex) can only be entered:
§ if at least one of the persons is a Danish citizen, or
§ if both persons live in Denmark and have had permanent address in Denmark for the last two years.
